A spirit of exploration and curiosity have until now been the main reasons to dive underwater. Now you can add one more – shopping. All thanks to an architecture office Carlo Ratti Associati which has recently unveiled their submerged plaza, belonging to the West Palm Beach, Florida’s Currie Park West Palm Beach, Florida – a project which promises to deliver once in a life time experiences beneath the waves.
This floating marvel is a fantastic example of maritime innovation design which takes advantage of technologies used in the construction of submarines.
The access to the plaza from on-land facilities will be provided by a leafy pathway, which will allow people to directly stroll from the city center into the middle of the lagoon. The visitors will be able to walk down to the water and immerse in the pure beauty of surrounding sea.
With this project Carlo Ratti Associati aims to reclaim West Palm Beach’s connection to the natural elements that surround it, and give shape to a vibrant new district that will serve as a creative catalyst for the entire city.
Currie Park’s plaza construction is set to begin next month and is expected to be completed by 2018.
