The Belmond Andean Explorer departed on its maiden voyage in early May, traveling from Cusco to Arequipa, a UNESCO World Heritage site, on a two-night journey. Guests travel in elegant style, while experiencing the culinary creations of Executive Chef, Diego Munoz, prepared with Peru’s natural bounty.

The train travels to Lake Titicaca and after passengers disembark at their destination, they have the option of booking a private tour of the floating islands on the lake. Legend says the lake is the birthplace of the sun and the Uro people constructed their reed islands, that could be moved at will, for protection against hostile neighbors in the distant past.
The body of water is the highest navigable lake in the world and home to a variety of wildlife that’s found nowhere else. Many of the species have been classified as endangered, providing travelers with the unique opportunity to view and photograph rare wildlife.
