Here are some numbers – over 10 million THB raised for charity by almost 100 intricately painted elephant figures, each measuring 1.5 meters, during the capital’s largest ever outdoor art exhibition visited by approximately 1 million people over the course of 3 months. Now here’s an elephant of an event!

The Elephant Parade Bangkok was a delight for both residents and tourists who visited the colorful elephant herd at three distinct Bangkok locations, namely Siam Paragon, Asiatiqe and Lumphini Park. Even better, all elephants showcased in the event have been available for the public to bid and own in an online auction and twenty, selected by the prestigious auction house Christies, were auctioned off at the final gala dinner at Anantara Siam Bangkok. The largest bid of the evening went to the elephant Utopia by artist Elizabeth Romhild for 600,000 THB.

The final proceeds will be donated to The Golden Triangle Asian Elephant Foundation who in turn will select strategic partners to drive forward key conservation projects. These include building the first elephant clinic in Chiang Mai’s Mae Teang Valley, expanding a Positive Reinforcement Target Training Project to traditional mahouts throughout Thailand helping protect 18,000 hectares of virgin rainforest in Cambodia where wild elephants roam and working closely with the national parks throughout Thailand to ensure the safety of wild elephants.
