As another lunar year passes, another animal takes the reigns in the 12-year Chinese zodiac cycle, and this time it’s the rooster.  Except for all the implications this has for those observant, hardworking, resourceful, courageous, and talented people born in the year of rooster (at least according to the Chinese horoscope), a new year brings an opportunity to get creative for some of the world’s luxury brands. Another addition to the exclusive Namiki Chinkin series is the Royal Rooster which was delicately polished using the famed Senbori technique. Decorated with an image of a fighting rooster it embodies strength, zest and power.

Ulysse Nardin’s ‘Year of the Rooster’

Coming from the workshops of the famed Ulysse Nardin is the celebratory “Year of the Rooster” timepiece, the latest addition to the Classico Collection.

The design of the watch captures rooster’s natural energy by using a centuries-old champlevé method of enameling, which involves the carving of cells with a chisel directly on the dial, which are then filled with enamel. To achieve a colorful effect different metallic oxides are carefully blended to bring the artist’s sketch to life. After firing the enamel melts preserving the intricate decoration.

The “Year of the Rooster”, is a strictly limited edition watch with of only 88 pieces available.
